Over the past few months we have noticed a new wrinkle with Windows
XP. It presents itself as the network icon in the task bar saying that
it is acquiring an IP address when in reality it has already acquired
an IP address.

It is surprising to me how many people have very complicated and
busy web pages selected as their default page for their Internet
browser. The default page is the page that loads when you open the
browser up and is also the page that loads when you click on the icon
of the house.

With all the hubbub about security we still see many, many
computers that do not have all of the current critical Microsoft
updates installed. In our opinion it is extremely important that all
critical updates be installed for Microsoft, in fact I would go so far
as to use the word critical in describing the importance of installing
all critical updates.

Something I see happen all the time is that people purchase
software either over the counter or on-line, install it and then lose
the CD or the product key number or some other important part that will
be required in the future to re-install that software.
