A couple of weeks ago we spoke about file type registration in Windows. If you have a problem with the wrong application opening a file type, this is a file registration problem. To fix this type of issue we would go into My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Here you will see a long list of file types. In this menu you can add, delete and change the file registrations. Adding one is tricky but deleting a wrong one is easy. Once the registration is deleted you would Apply and say OK. Once that is done it is quite easy to get Windows to create a new one. All you have to do is click on the file type in question and if Windows does not find it in the registration list it will pop up a window telling you that it does not know what program to use and asks you to pick from a list or browse through the computer to find the proper program. That’s it in a nut shell.
